Taking Back Lives was founded by a 16 year-old girl, and since that time TBL’s commitment to youth has been at the heart of our organization. Today’s young people are a well-informed, global population who are looking for opportunities to make a difference that are engaging, authentic, and relevant to their lives.
Youth involvement is apparent in every aspect of TBL from serving on our board of directors to utilizing skills and talents in a wide range of intern positions. Our goal is to empower young people to realize that they have a voice and the ability to positively impact their communities and beyond!
Malawi
As one of the poorest countries in the world, Malawi’s many problems—all stemming from severe poverty—will not be solved overnight. It will require a long-term investment and holistic approach, with an emphasis on developing children into future leaders with the capacity and skills to pull themselves, the community, and quite possible the nation, out of despair.
Taking Back Lives is committed to implementing projects that equip the Mazembe Village in the Nkhata Bay District with the tools and resources needed to achieve permanent change. Through TBL’s local Malawian team and input from village leaders and members, we strive to actively engage the community as stakeholders in all that we do.
