Rock Out for a Cause—February 2012
Entertainment Committee: Music is the HEART of Rock Out for a Cause, so it’s a given that knowledge of music culture is a must. The goal of ROFAC is to appeal to a mix of music enthusiasts, therefore, offering an assortment of genres is important, as well as securing the most talented and well-known bands available for this charitable event.
Charity Committee: Spreading awareness and raising funds for deserving nonprofit organizations is the SOUL behind ROFAC. Offering a variety of organizations within the community that address Issues important to students should be represented at ROFAC, increasing the likelihood that everyone who attends the event will find a worthwhile cause to support.
Marketing/Promotions Committee: You can have the best event in the world, but what if no one shows up? Informing students about ROFAC plays a crucial role in the overall success of the event. Marketing materials such as commercials, info cards, and posters will be created and/or modified to advertise ROFAC, with a detailed plan devised for mass distribution and participant recruitment.
Sponsorship Committee: Securing sponsorships from local businesses is essential to offsetting many, if not all of the event expenses—allowing the revenue raised to go directly to the fund the important work of the represented charities. In addition to monetary sponsorships, donations for food items, event supplies and/or services are actively sought as in-kind sponsors.
Day-of-Event: A small army of assistance is crucial during the actual event in the following areas:
- Registration
- Hospitality
- Stage, Sound & Lighting Production
- Photography & Videography
- Set-up/Clean-up
Post Event: It's always important to have the proper follow up after each event.

Sunset Walk—October 29, 2011
Activities/Entertainment Committee: Keeping walk participants engaged throughout the entire event is essential for success. Organizing the music, a variety of fun activities, as well as a closing ceremony that creates awareness about the issues faced by students living in Malawi and other developing countries, is a guarantee that everyone that attends will have a memorable experience and want to return.
Marketing/Promotions Committee: All the planning in the world means nothing if no one shows up at the Sunset Walk. Getting the word out and enticing participants to attend is the determining factor in executing a successful event. Designing appealing marketing materials such as commercials, info cards, and posters and deciding how they will be used effectively to advertise the Sunset Walk is the ultimate goal of this committee.

School Ambassadors
Taking Back Lives is looking for committed student leaders who are willing to promote TBL within their school. As a representative, you will be responsible for getting the word out about upcoming TBL events and creating awareness about our many projects in Malawi.
Student ambassadors are our direct link to students and are vital to our mission. We will equip you with all of the information and resources you need to inform your entire school about the newest and latest with TBL and how anyone can get connected.
