Rock Out for a Cause (ROFAC) is a one-of-a-kind event, where students come together to make a difference in the world while enjoying some of their favorite local bands. All proceeds from ROFAC go to a variety of international and local charities. Today’s youth are a well-informed, global generation with strong values, political opinions, and the desire to make the world a better place. ROFAC sets the stage for students to have fun while making a positive impact on the community and beyond.
Each Rock Out for a Cause will have its own distinctive identity based on factors such as location and participants, though the underlying principles will remain the same. We consider music to be the heart of ROFAC, in which a variety of bands are showcased onstage throughout the evening. The soul of this event, however, is each of the incredible charities, whose work is highlighted in-between band changeovers in order to create awareness and support among all those who attend.
Selection of bands varies from location to location, depending on availability and genre preferences. Student organizers research and determine which bands will be invited—focusing on popularity and suitability for a benefit concert such as this.
The opportunity to highlight the inspirational work of a number of charities with diverse missions is the motivation behind Rock Out for a Cause. As facilitator of ROFAC, and because of our focus on involving students in service both at home and abroad, Taking Back Lives is the only predetermined nonprofit represented at ROFAC. The remaining charities are selected by the organizing team at each individual event.
